Paper covers rocks!

Remember when you were a kid and you would fold white paper into squares and cut it and make paper snowflakes?

Well the windows here are a little more intricate -and inspiring!

These whimsical paper miniature "worlds" are a delight and a must see at Tiffany & Co this season.
They say diamonds are a girl's best friend (but this paper may be a BFF!)

Flower Display

Here is a floral trend we noticed recently -

the red tree was seen in the lobby of the Paramount hotel in NYC, not two weeks later, we saw the green trees outside a special events location on Park Avenue. Looks like twigs with flower balls are popular. We are looking for the 3rd example of this - if you see it, let us know. This could be reworked in a myriad of materials - as the shapes are classic and the effect pleasing.

Butterflies are here again!

We saw this in Soho last week and LOVE the idea of snow and butterflies (butterflies are popping up everywhere). Also - this window has a diorama within the larger window which creates a multi dimensional quality which is really fun in person (sorry about the limits of my photography). The trees, the snow, the woman with the elaborate hat and of course the bounty of hot pink butterflies - what does it all mean? Who cares! It's so great to look at and makes me want to know more about what's inside the store. Ah, the art of windows!

Spring is a bloom..

signs of spring are all around in NYC this past week. Though we all know March and April can be snowy, rainy and cold, the stores are looking to get something fresh into our wardrobes and enticing us with the promise of bike rides and flowering trees. A good window tells a story and this one says, warm weather and good times are ahead - get ready!
