LV hatched at Saks

We loved the windows last month at Saks. featuring Louis Vuitton's newest collection. These whimsical windows used ostrich eggs and legs to highlight these beautiful birds (we mean bags!).

Very cute concept and executed so well. Love that blue wall!

Uptown Girl by Rachel Zoe at Bloomingdales

America's most notable stylist, Rachel Zoe has launched her clothing collection and Bloomindale's gave her window space to make a splash.
She does a nice job of telling a story through propping and the windows have a pleasing affect. From the mini Eiffel tower, to disco balls in a British phone booth - the themes of leisure and playing come through nicely.
Head over and see what this Uptown Girl is up to.

CDW Merchants goes 'bird watching at Global Shop 2011

Global Shop, the retail trade show, took place in Las Vegas at the end of March and we were there for our 6th year.
using a theme of birds and birdhouses, we highlighted a broad range of capabilities, including distressing techniques, temporary wooden flooring, custom painted wooden signs, rope props, hand assembly work, covered books, cut and sew to name a few.

Using the current trend of blending old with new, we combined materials that were new and shiny with those of a dull vintage nature all with an "urban rustic" style.

We enjoyed visiting with customers and meeting new people and hope to add YOU to our growing roster of top retailers.

Nordstrom holiday is "for the birds"

It seems everyone is feeling rustic this season and Nordstrom is no exception. But they have included a place for the birds with some great birdhouses adorning their slender trees. The snow and birch stumps round out the look.
Now if only the birds had a twitter account, they could let their friends know where they are! Tweet.

Tick Tock Tweet...

ah, the written word or music for that matter can be so visually poetic. Here's a page from a recent Bergdorf install that used printed scores and wrapped books to create an enchanting "notice me" window.

and all to the rhythm of the oversize metronome....tick, tock indeed.

Winter Wonderland

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...and apparently so are a few retailers.
We love the snow! and with a few bright touches, like the red cardinal or colorful product, these windows really pop.
Check out the snow made of shredded paper, dixie cups, crumpled plastic and tissue at Anthropologie. It looks like a snow fort you would have made as a kid - which is why it works. When windows create fantasy and memories, you know you have done your job. The white Snow owl on the "fake" tree stump is also terrific and within the 'wall of snow', made out of crumpled white paper, there are other snowy creatures which is fun.
Hope you are enjoying the holiday show so far - get out there and support your local retailers this weekend. Who wouldn't love to finish their shopping early? (then you'd have more time to admire the windows!)
Happy Thanksgiving.

Birds of a feather...

I came upon this surreal fantasy window recently and thought it looked like a funny dream. I like the wings and birds and black and white floor.
