Holiday is here at Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor is ringing in the season with it's Holiday 1 set - seen here in NYC - and bling is the thing.

With a nice mix of 2D as 3D chandeliers, glitter wall paper, and hanging crystal garlands this seasonal install is setting the tone for it's winter festive wear. A little glitter as the days get darker helps brighten the spirits!

LV hatched at Saks

We loved the windows last month at Saks. featuring Louis Vuitton's newest collection. These whimsical windows used ostrich eggs and legs to highlight these beautiful birds (we mean bags!).

Very cute concept and executed so well. Love that blue wall!

A Wonderful Summer at Anthropologie

It's a dark day here in NYC - so we are looking back to a brighter time a couple months ago.. at Anthropologie - a brief look back to creative uses of used objects.

Anthropolgie's windows vary from store to store, yet always follow a consistent theme and shared elements.
Here's a few interpretations showing wine corks for Earth Day, and hanging paper petals for summer. We love the creativity and craftsmanship and look forward to seeing the holiday windows - sure to dazzle us soon.

Dial M for Madewell

While the Brits may have decided their bulky phone booths were obselete and removed them from most streets, their design continues to inspire.
Recently Madewell included them in their windows, perhaps as a nod to the Alexa Chung collection (the Bristish TV personality, editor and stylist).
Last month, they were used at Bloomingdales with the Rachel Zoe window.
Using a large iconic prop in an otherwise simple window presentation works well and adds a burst of color and dimension. And where else can super heros change into their costumes?

Art Imitating Art at Fendi

This is the third time we've seen this canvas /art trend used in recent months. In July we spotted this presentation at Cole Haan and then at Urban Outfitters.

Fendi used a similar concept both in their windows as well as their ad campaign. While they kept a more minimal look in their paintings, the bohemian luxury message came through and we wonder...is life imitating art, or art imitading life?
And will will this idea pop up next?

Body By Burberry Fragrance Launch

Burberry's new fragrance, Body launched last month with new campaign in print and windows.

Despite being executed simply with graphics, mirrors and perfume bottles of the new fragrance, the windows were quite dramatic. The glass bottles against the mirrors created a beautiful reflection and stopped us in our tracks.
Using a product as a prop, if done right, can both promote and be an effective visual element. In this case Burberry got both right!

Gwyneth Leech's Cup Drawings

Live windows really draw attention and this current window installed in "the prow" of the Flatiron building in Chelsea is no different. When the artist is sitting in the window as she is here, it's hard to get a clear shot of the work as the windows are filled with people vying for a glimpse. This women, Gwyneth Leech paints on every day coffee cups and many of them are terrific and overall as a collection inspiring. This type of "hand made" work seen live in windows is a fun way to attract a crowd.

Madison Collection at Coach is Flat!

To promote their Madison line, Coach adorned the walls of their windows with over sized flat sketches and cardboard cutouts in black and white to highlight this new collection.
The layered illustrated cut outs help the bags take center stage and the window does an excellent job of elevating an otherwise simple presentation.

Bvlgari New York Accordingly

Bvlgari's new Fall windows have caught our eye. Rachel Weisz, their new face for Fall is featured in large scale prints encased in gold frames set upon ornate backdrops.

The according paper risers added a nice touch with their decorative honey comb style in earthy tones. The jewel tone color scheme works well here as an accent to the gorgeous pieces featured inside. It made us stop for a second look. Swing by and check it out yourself, if the jewelry doesn't draw you in the windows will!
